Sometimes you can just look at someone and tell they are not doing well, both physically and mentally. Whether it be there weight, skin, or behavior, you can see when someone's health is not good. Here are 4 ways to know what your pet needs.
1. Healthy Skin (Scales, fur, whatever is on your pet)
Shiny and Smooth is how you describe a dog's coat being healthy. Supple and clear are good descriptions for your feline friends. Even fish scales have a certain look on them depending on the type of fish. So many online websites like Pedigree and IAMS can help you know what your pet should look like. Go search their sites so you can see what your animal needs.
2. Food
If you eat 5 Twinkies and can't figure out why you don't feel good, maybe you should start there before making meals for your pet. The difference is that they may not have the choice of what they are eating. It's up to the owner to give them the proper nutrients they need.
3. Space
In the last blog, I mentioned don't cram a really active dog inside of a tiny apartment. You can't some home surprised that little lucky tore up the couch while your gone. Just like you wouldn't put a horse in your basement. Even the cute mini ones. Some people don't realize but even the bowl for the gold fish should be a certain size.
4. Body Language
Sad eyes are depressing on any animal. Our reptile friends are a little bit more difficult to read then our fury ones, but there are still ways to tell how they are doing. With cats and dogs, just looking at their body language can raise a red flag. How their ears sit, the way their tails wag, and even their posture in their shoulders can tell you what you need to know.

Nonverbal communication works on people just like pets, you just have to find the "tail". (Yeah sorry about that)
